Does not dissolve in water (20 ºC, 100 ml water dissolved 0.00029 g). Slightly soluble in cold ethanol. Soluble in acetone, benzene, ether, chloroform, carbon tetrachloride, sulfur dioxide, chloroform, hot ethanol, toluene, amyl acetate, etc.

Application:

Plastic industry:Stearic acid is widely used in the manufacture of PVC pipes, plates, profiles and films.It is PVC heat stabilizer with good lubricity and good light and heat stability.In plastic PVC pipe, stearic acid helps to prevent the "coking" in the process of processing, adding in PVC film processing is an effective heat stabilizer, and can prevent the discoloration of finished film caused by sudden exposure to sulfide.

Rubber industry:Stearic acid plays an important role in the synthesis and processing of rubber.Stearic acid is a vulcanizing active agent widely used in natural rubber, synthetic rubber and latex, and can also be used as plasticizer and softener.In the process of producing synthetic rubber, stearic acid needs to be added as emulsifier.
